like the third film, spider-man 4 has its flaws. the biggest flaw is that it doesn't know when to stop. despite a strong cast, the film's villains are both underdeveloped and underutilized. the film has vulture, sandman, rhino, spider-slayer, and a rogue pack of genetically modified spiders. none of these villains make sense and they all seem to be thrown into the mix.

the friendly neighborhood spider-man came up with a plan to give a small group of his closest friends a group of their own to fight crime with. his plan involved hiding in plain sight by having them all dress as spider-men. this is a good plan, except for the fact that he never told any of the heroes that they had the power of spider-sense, which should have been a given and that it is something they could have used to their advantage in the first place. despite the plan's flaws, it was actually quite effective and in the end, the group of spider-men was called upon to help save the city.
after the events of the previous film, dr. curt connors is now a fusion of 2 separate men. a fusion of multiple human bodies is not something that should happen, and this is why the fusion of doctor octopus and peter parker caused the latter to lose his ability to breathe. the fusion also creates a new personality, which is a mixture of both octavious and peter's personalities. the fusion also manages to revert the fusion to the original body, which is why peter is no longer trapped in the symbiote. this is also why he has lost his spider-sense, as the fusion did not trigger that ability, either.
